In need of a drill bit

Im desperate need of a drill bit to drill two holes in my (already installed) neck block. I remember talking about this before and someone offered to lend me one.
Its the type that drills as you pull, so I would drill two pilot holes then insert the bit from the inside of the guitar and then attached it to my drill from the out side, then pull as it turns, this will all me to counter sink the nuts for the two neck bolts.

Lance, I think what you're looking for is a "counterbore". I don't own one, but I recently looked them up - to do the same thing you're doing.

There are several types, but the ones that looked most useful attached to a regular drill bit, something like a 5/16" drill with a 3/4" counterbore.

Yukon mentioned that it's important to use the same drill size to get good results, so don't go with an undersized shank.

I have a few old spade bits that I have ground out and sharpened the back
side of for interior counterbores. It's a pretty simple tool to make.

We had a more official tool for this up at Elderly's (mainly for endpin jacks
in extra thick end blocks) with a removable blade, but I don't recall who it
was made by.

If you would like I could try to find one of my modified spade bits and
send a photo, but it's really quite basic. Just choose the right spade bit for
the counterbore size and grind a cutting edge in to the shaft end of the
spade, leaving the center the size of the pilot hole. The ones I've made
were 5 minute grinding jobs, and cut a remarkably clean hole.

IIRC you're looking for a 'reverse spotfacing' bit, MSC or similar carry it. Leaves you with a flat bottomed counterbored hole.

I don't have one, have never used one, but this questions comes up often enough that I've remembered the answer.
